Silicon Bronze Welding
Here at EMESCO Designs we love the latest technology and state of the art innovation. Techniques and processes are always changing but that doesn’t mean to say that the old school way of doing things has to stop. We love the classic racing steel chassis of the 50s all the way through to the 80s. Simple, sleek, minimalistic design. Form and function rolled into one. A popular way of joining the steel tubing especially in Britain for motorcycle frames, Formula 1 and even light aircraft was to silicon bronze weld them. This technique uses a torch and rod without melting the base material, keeping a strong join but also allows for flex without cracking. This technique proves a great process for steel motorcycle frames and also has a unique look of a gold like weld reminiscent of the XR69 factory race bike, Manx Norton TT Winners or Steve Mcqueen’s desert sled. We are looking forward to some future projects using this amazing technique and we are also offering bespoke work for your silicon bronze welding needs !
